On March 21st at 8 o’clock we, the 3BK from the HAK Hallein, drove from our school to Munich by bus. After two hours our class arrived at the airport in Munich. We checked in and waited in the big hall in the airport, where we could go shopping or eating. There two of our classmates almost got lost and they had to be announced
The plane took off at 13:15 at gate H 23 and arrived in London Heathrow at 14:20 because there is one hour time lag. Then we drove to Woodingdean by bus and arrived at half past four. There we were picked up by our host families who took us to their homes. The houses of our host families were quite far away from each other. The buildings were different to Austrian houses. Our families were very friendly and helped us when we had questions. Some of the host families had children, pets or other exchange students. Generally the meals and the rooms were ok. It was very interesting to experience a daily routine of an English family. However we had to be very self-confident to get along on our own. This was a good experience for all of us. Every day we went to school which started at 14:30 pm and lasted until 18:00. At 16:00 pm we all had a break of 30 minutes. The lessons were very comfortable because the teachers were also very nice and we had a lot of fun. Every day we talked about and discussed another topic for example music, London, global warming… Our class was divided into two groups of eleven and twelve pupils. We had two different teachers called Tim and Jonathan. The classrooms were very small and after a while it got hotter and hotter inside. Every day we did role plays which were a lot of fun, many quizzes and we talked a lot. What did we do during the whole week? On Monday we went to the Sealife Center near the Brighton Pier. It is a big center with a lot of different animals which live in the water. It was very interesting and beautiful as well. On Tuesday we walked to the Royal Pavillion. This is very famous and we got a short tour through the Pavillion. One of the highlights of our trip was the visit to London on Wednesday. We got to Victoria Station by train. We stayed there the whole day. At first we visited the London Eye, where we enjoyed a great view of London from high above. On our way to Madame Tussauds we visited the Tower Bridge, a huge bridge in London from where we got a great view of the River Thames. Another highlight of the London journey was Madame Tussauds, the famous wax cabinet. The people in there looked so real although they were only made of wax. Many famous people from all over the world are present in the wax cabinet such as Michael Jackson, Barrack Obama or famous artists. In our break time most of us visited Oxford Street a famous Street with lots of shops. On Thursday we went to the Seven Sisters which are very famous and high cliffs at the sea. However the strong wind was very bad. On Friday we had a fun morning program because we went bowling to a nearby bowling center. On our last day we met at the same place where our hostfamilies picked us up on the day of arrival at about 8 o’clock. After that we went to see the Windsor castle which we sadly didn’t see because no one of us had money left, so we were sitting for 2 hours in a café talking about our cool week in England. Two hours later our bus took us to London Heathrow. Our plane departure was at half past 2. We arrived at Munich airport at 5 o’clock and went to Salzburg by train. We finally reached our beautiful train station at 9 o’clock in the evening. Students 3 BK |
